A quintessential component of every Indian kitchen is the masala dabba (मसाला डब्बा, spice container), a round tin with seven small steel cylinders inside, each containing a different Indian spice. Thanks to my sister, Natasha, for leaving one for me!
Clockwise starting from the spoon:
- turmeric (haldi, हल्दी)
- mustard seeds (rai, राई)
- cloves (laung, लौंग)
- garam masala (mixed spices, गरम मसाला)
- cumin (jeera, जीरा)
- cardamom (elychee, इलायची)
- red chili powder (laal mirch, लाल मिर्च)
A ghar is not a home without the masala dabba.
Want.
3/4 are on my top ten list, not bad. I love Kajal, Rani, and Madhuri.
